Barnicoat’s Norisring woes continue

Ben Barnicoat continued to struggle in the second and third qualifying session for round five of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship at the Norisring, with 12th position his best finish in Germany.

The Racing Steps Foundation-backed driver, who had earlier qualified 16th for the opening affair, continued to be troubled and was able to muster a 13th place start for the weekend’s second race, with a 12th place the best for the final race three.

Van Amersfoort Racing’s Callum Ilott scored provisional pole position for both races two and three, although a pre-qualifying engine change meant a 10-place grid drop would be handed down.

That enabled Ilott’s Van Amersfoort Racing team-mate Anthoine Hubert to clinch pole for race two, with Prema’s Lance Stroll at the front of race three.
