Ben Barnicoat will join Akkodis ASP Team for the 2025 season, to contest the FIA World Endurance Championship, racing in the LM GT3 category. This follows on from three successful years competing as a Lexus Racing factory driver in the USA, where Ben secured the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship GTD Pro title in 2023.
Ben joins Akkodis ASP Team following a successful outing at the Rookie Test at the conclusion of this season. He returns to the championship, having claimed LMP2 Pro Am victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans earlier this season, and with experience of several rounds in the previous GTE era. He is now confirmed for the full 2025 campaign, driving the #78 Lexus RC F GT3 in the recently introduced LM GT3 category. The championship is scheduled to commence with the Official Prologue followed by the opening round in Qatar at the end of February.
Commenting on the first news of his 2025 campaign, Ben explained:
“I am absolutely thrilled to be joining Akkodis ASP Team, and to continue racing as part of the Lexus family into 2025. The FIA World Endurance Championship is the ultimate in terms of global GT racing, and it is great to be back. It is a real honour to be representing Lexus on the world stage, and to drive the RC F GT3 at the greatest endurance race of them all, the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The team made big progress throughout last season, so I am looking forward to seeing what we can do next year.”
Most recently, Ben completed a third successive season with Lexus Racing and Vasser Sullivan in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship, returning as reigning GTD Pro champion.
Ben’s FIA World Endurance Championship teammates in the #78 Lexus RC F GT3 will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
